As a diabetic, you already know that you need to watch what you eat; but what about hydration? Various drinks are harmless for diabetics while others are a one way ticket to high blood glucose levels. While looking for new diabetic drinks, don’t feel as if you must stick to the “No sugar” rule. Every diabetic’s Blood glucose levels spike and decline at different rates. Experiment with different drinks, test your blood glucose level after each serving and over time you will gain a better understanding of what to avoid, limit and enjoy!

Water | This one had to be first. Water is a crucial part of your everyday diet and is must for everyone including non-diabetics. A study conducted in France concluded that people who drink 16 or less ounces of water a day are nearly 30% more likely to suffer from high blood glucose levels.

Tea | More specifically, green and black tea are a power house of health. Tea is a huge source of antioxidants and contains Polysaccharides which slows the intake of sugar into the bloodstream. Tea may be good for you, but often is paired with sugar, fatty milk and cream so ingest with care.
